J is for Jump – as in our latest preschool alphabet games here at Happy and Blessed Home.
Just for you I’ve created some jumping beans as a part of our alphabet games that you can download for free to create a “Jumping Beans Game” for your preschooler. You can do any variation you like with this game, you can put numbers on the bellies of the Jumping Beans and ask your preschooler to go from one number to another or you could use alphabet letters, or you could do like we did and have your child move from one color to another. It’s great for building recognition of letters, numbers, colors, shapes, whatever you like. You can download it here or go to Free Stuff to get the Jumping Beans game or any of our other games and or free printables for toddlers. I’ve also loaded some tutorials including I is for Igloo and Thankful Turkey just to name a few.
As you can see, even my ten month old got excited about the game. The two boys love playing together even though Nugget can’t stand up yet – he’s still learning to crawl.
Peanut did a great job moving to the colors as I called them out – as you can see via video here: Jumping Beans Video. He still doesn’t know how to leave the ground so he more or less stomps from one letter to the next.
Just as important as having fun is our review of the letters and the sounds they make. Here I’ve captured Peanut as we review phonics for the letter “J”.
Peanut even tried to explain to Nugget how the game worked. I got him to pause for a moment so I could snap this quick picture of the boys.
For me, “J” stands for joy. Being the mama of these two little ones fills my heart with joy.
Psalm 5:11, NIV
11 But let all who take refuge in you be glad;
let them ever sing for joy.
Spread your protection over them,
that those who love your name may rejoice in you.
If you’re able to use the “Jumping Beans Game” to have fun with your preschooler I’d love to hear about it. Please leave a comment in the comment box below. I pray you’re having a blessed time with your little one(s) as we journey through the alphabet.
In His Grip,
Monica
