We’re on our next letter in our Preschool Alphabet Games. Since we’re on the letter K, it was a perfect time to talk about the three wise kings who brought baby Jesus gold, incense and myrrh. To make the letter study more festive, we created a king’s crown using gold-colored card stock. You can download the free pattern here: King’s Crown.
I didn’t have much for a sensory bin but we have some lovely alphabet inspired books with the letter “k” featured. The magnet board included flash cards with the words kite, king, kangaroo, key, koala, and kiss. Peanut enjoyed wearing the crown and we spent time reviewing the words, coloring and playing with his new “hat”. The magnets didn’t last long on the board – Peanut loves to play with magnets. If you’re doing this at home, no need to buy anything new, just look around for books or toys you already have.
We also spent some time rolling out play-dough to create words starting with the letter “K”. I used cookie-cutters made by Wilton. A huge set of all sorts of cookie cutters is only $10 at Walmart. Now we can create all sorts of things with play-dough. Great photos of our fun are included below.
In addition, just in time for Christmas, you can download two free books today on Amazon. One is the classic story of Scrooge, “A Christmas Carol“, and the other is a story on sharing the gospel with our loved ones, “Letters from a Skeptic“. Click the links to download the free books.
The verse of the day, perfect for this Christmas season:
“[The Birth of Jesus] In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world. So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child.”
Praying His spirit of grace surrounds you this Christmas.
In His Grip,
Monica
