Storytelling is an age-old method of passing along history from one generation to the next and it’s a fabulous activity for creating family fun. My boys love hearing stories and they especially love it when I embellish the stories with an activity or craft that reinforces the story.
This Christmas, our family will be revisiting the Christmas story. And as we talk about the manger we can enjoy acting out the animals in the manger using these adorable nativity puppets! One of the ways our family enjoys animated story-time is through the use of puppets.

FREE Nativity Puppets – Fun Christmas Craft for Kids
These puppets are meant to represent the farm animals that are a part of the Christmas nativity. This can be a fun craft for parents or caretakers to do with young children as they tell them the Christmas story. These puppets can be brought to life with construction paper, colored markers, crayons, finger paints, cotton balls, yarn, googly eyes, and more. You can use the puppets to inspire imagination and spend time together learning about the animals.

Supplies:
Crayons, Markers,Paints, Scissors, Glue, glitter, yarn, string, google eyes, etc. You can make your puppets as simple or as decorative as you like. Download the printable pack here: FREE Nativity Puppet Printables

Directions:
Grown-ups can help the child assemble the puppets. There are two versions of each puppet. An “easy” to assemble puppet and a more “complex” version that requires more effort to cut, color, and glue to put together. I threw in a few extras at the end. Use yarn, string, pom-poms or other “furry” embellishments for animals’ fur. You can add “google” eyes for the eyes. Use puffy paint, finger-paints, colored sand, or other art supplies to add texture. These FREE Nativity Puppets are a fun Christmas craft for kids and can be a helpful teaching tool – tell your child about the sounds each animal makes, where it lives and what food it likes to eat. These puppet pieces are designed to be used with standard brown bag lunch sacks that measure 10 5/8 x 5 1/8 x 3 1/8 inches. Have fun creating these free nativity puppets with your little-one(s).
