Are you hosting family anytime soon? How about friends for a Sunday Brunch or Brunch Party get-together? One of my favorite Christmas memories is of a time when my sisters and our husbands all gathered at my mom’s house for Christmas. We spent the entire week hosting a cook-off contest. Each of us would take turns cooking something for the day and our husbands would tell us who rounded up the best dishes. We lounged around in our PJs all week long and ate our fill of meals like the brunch party dishes I’ll be sharing here.

Here I’m sharing 7 Sunday Brunch Ideas for Hosting a Holiday Brunch Party that’s easy, memorable and fun. This post comes with a free printable reindeer craft perfect for kids.
7 Sunday Brunch Ideas for Hosting a Brunch Party
You can host a brunch party or Sunday brunch without slaving over a stovetop all morning long. And you can serve up a delicious meal and some fun kids’ activities and memory making all at the same time.
This year, Christmas falls on Sunday, so these tips include Sunday brunch Ideas, but honestly, you could use these tips for hosting a brunch party on any day of the week. A brunch is a buffet style meal that combines dishes traditionally served at breakfast or lunch. A brunch is usually served during the late morning, but it can be served as late as 3 PM.
A brunch is perfect for sleepy mornings after family members have stayed up late talking, or for weekend mornings when mom and dad can be home from work.
Tip #1: Plan ahead for the perfect Brunch Party
When you know you’ll be hosting family for the first meal of the next morning, plan ahead to avoid having to wake up super early. I like to make my Easy Recipe: Hash browns, Eggs and Bacon Breakfast Casserole the night before and store it in the fridge.
Make all the elements – hash browns, eggs, and bacon, assemble and sprinkle with cheese. Put the covered casserole dish in the fridge before you would bake it (as outlined in the recipe).
In the morning, put the Hash browns, Eggs and Bacon Breakfast Casserole in the oven and reheat for 20-30 minutes at 300 degrees and it will be ready when guests arrive or wake up. For our family brunch I used a divided casserole dish and I cooked up some extra scrambled eggs to offer even more protein options.
Once your food is warm and the cheese is melted, switch the oven to warm after the initial re-heat period. My Hash browns, Eggs and Bacon Breakfast Casserole has all the elements of a hearty breakfast, and is just as tasty after an hour or two in the oven on warm.
Tip #2: Set the Table for your Sunday Brunch the Night Before.
If you want to be able to wake up and sit with guests when they get up in the morning, set everything out on the table so it’s ready on the night before your brunch. I even like to set out the beverages that I have in mind so I can place them at the front of the fridge for the next morning.
Tip #3: Take a Walk down Memory Lane
One of our family’s favorite things to do when we gather together is to look at old family albums and enjoy reminiscing about the fun things we’ve done to together as a family. Every two years I create a large family album at Shutterfly.com. And right now, through the holidays, buy any 4 participating Coca-Cola products and enjoy $20 off at Shutterfly.com. Just use the printable coupon that you get with your receipt (called a catalina) when you make your purchase at Albertson’s or another banner store. The printed coupon will have the offer information and special code for your discount at Shutterfly. (Shutterfly website, where the code is entered for the $20 off.)
As you can see from the photos below, I’m due for another family album, so this crazy good offer for $20 off is perfect for my holiday planning!
Tip #4: Plan to make New Memories
As I mentioned, in our family, we used to host a cook-off over the holidays. But now that we have young children in our families, we like to create fun activities that leave a lasting impression. This year, we’re going to create reindeer faces. All you need are some scissors, tape, glue, googley eyes and something to use as a red nose. Just print out the image below and join the fun. Post your crafts on my Facebook fan page for some extra holiday fun!

Tip #5: Make it Easier: Use a Warming Dish.
If everyone will be eating around the same time of morning, use a warming dish to keep the meal in open sight. This double buffet server will help you keep the food warm even when it is out on the table. Other tools I like to use are an ice bucket and serving tongs.
Tip #6: Serve a variety of dishes and drinks
In our family, we all love traditional breakfast foods, but if you’ll be hosting a brunch party with friends, you may want to offer up a wider variety of dishes then the ones you see here. Make sure to include things like fruit, pastries, other entrees, and lots of beverage options. Some of my favorites are listed here:
- These Pretzel Balls are a dense bread roll stuffed with sausages and cheese – perfect for meat lovers.
- These Lemon Coconut Muffins are light and flaky with a touch of lemon flavor. Add a touch of the tropics to your breakfast.
- If your guests love fresh berries, don’t miss my recipe for Cream Cheese and White Chocolate Pinwheels with Berries. Nothing beats berries in a light airy pastry drizzled with a touch of white chocolate.
- Reindeer Sweet Rolls – see recipe below.
Tip #7: Make for easy clean-up.
Don’t be afraid to use paper plates and plastic cups when needed. Sometimes you’re hosting a brunch party with friends and family that you rarely get to see. Make the most of your time and spend less time washing dishes. Relax and enjoy your company and enjoy the time you have together!
Easy Recipe: Reindeer Sweet Rolls
Now we don’t have breakfast like this every day – it’s a very special treat. But you can enjoy sweet rolls like these any day of the year, and these treats are super fun to make and eat. These tasty Reindeer Sweet Rolls would also make the perfect addition to a Christmas brunch or holiday brunch party!
