Do your kids love fishing? Have you ever tried to create a “go fish” game using kitchen magnets and paper clips? Well, if this is your first time, I’m going to make it super easy. I’ve created a fun FREE Go Fish Activity Pack for Kids with 10 fun activities. My kids’ favorite activity is the go fish game itself. It’s not the flash card game but a game where you using a rod, reel, and fishing line with a magnet on it to catch the paper fish with paperclips attached.
Go Fish Activity Pack with 10 Fun Activities for Kids
This easy to use 15 page printable pack includes coloring pages, puzzles, matching fish, align and count, cutting practice and a dozen fish you can use to create a fishing game for kids.
How to create a Go Fish Game
For our go fish game, we used some blue blankets to create water for the fish to swim in. I attached paper clips to each of the fish. Depending upon the strength of your kitchen magnet, hair pins and small binder clips will also work for this project. The boys have toy fishing rods with reels, but you could also take a stick from outside and use dental floss and a kitchen magnet to create your own fishing rod at home. Just be sure that one end of the string is tied on to the fishing rod and the other end is tied to the magnet. I secured our magnet with clear tape to ensure that it did not fall off the fishing line.

My boys loved this fishing game and played it for nearly two hours. We pretended the picnic table was a “boat”. My almost six year old was delighted to stay in the boat and go fishing, but my four year old was determined to walk on water. 😉
The game lasted up to the final minutes before dinner once the boys figured out they could throw the fish off the deck and fish for them even from way “up high.”
Once we started the fishing game, I could not peel the boys away from the game to work on the puzzles and coloring pages, but I’m sure that on our next day of inclement weather, we can stop to color and work on puzzles indoors to complete our fishing theme.

Taking care of our Blue Blankets
We use our blankets for all sorts of fun family play time. For our fishing game we used the blankets to create imaginary water.
