This morning I am thinking about two of the goals I have for my home. One is to cultivate beauty and the other is to seek wisdom. Beauty comes in many forms and one that has recently been on my mind is music. I am not gifted with the talent of music but I’d like to introduce it to my children in our home. My dad just sent me a keyboard with all the accessories and I am super excited about what this could mean for our family and our education in the field of music. I certainly won’t pressure anyone to become a musician, but what a blessing and privilege to have an advanced musical instrument in our home for the purpose of instruction and learning.
In regards to wisdom, I feel so blessed to be a stay at home mom. When I was in the work world if I was given an assignment that I wasn’t sure how to execute, I would read up on the topic, talk with subject matter experts, look for templates and guides and then proceed to complete my assigned task. My approach to being a mom is something I am handling in a similar fashion. I read books, I pursue God’s expertise via His word, and I meet and talk with other moms who are now traveling down this road, or who have gone before me on the journey of raising children. One of the most inspiring pieces of scripture on the pursuit of wisdom for me is Proverbs 3. I pray this will be my pursuit today and an inspiration for me and my children every day.
In His Grip,
Monica

Proverbs 3, New International Version (NIV)
13 Blessed are those who find wisdom,
those who gain understanding,
14 for she is more profitable than silver
and yields better returns than gold.
15 She is more precious than rubies;
nothing you desire can compare with her.
16 Long life is in her right hand;
in her left hand are riches and honor.
17 Her ways are pleasant ways,
and all her paths are peace.
18 She is a tree of life to those who take hold of her;
those who hold her fast will be blessed.
19 By wisdom the Lord laid the earth’s foundations,
by understanding he set the heavens in place;
20 by his knowledge the watery depths were divided,
and the clouds let drop the dew.
21 My son, do not let wisdom and understanding out of your sight,
preserve sound judgment and discretion;
22 they will be life for you,
an ornament to grace your neck.
23 Then you will go on your way in safety,
and your foot will not stumble.
