My Latina Heritage
With a Cuban father and Puerto Rican mother, as far back as I can remember, one of the things our family loved to serve with our meals were black beans. We ate black beans with many different dishes including everything from chicken to seafood. “Black beans” in Spanish is “frijoles negros”. In most of the Caribbean the word for black beans in Spanish is “habichuela negra”. This recipe for my latino-inspired Black Bean Burgers combines the flavors of red onion, avocado, cheddar cheese and black bean burger patties for an awe-inspiring taste of veggie burgers in a whole new way. Plus try my Sazón Mayo for extra oomph in your burger. Don’t be fooled by the all-veggie nature of this burger, it’s a filling and satisfying meal for even adult-sized appetites. This recipe for my Black Bean Bugers is inspired by my latin heritage and our family’s love of black beans.
Black Bean Burgers Serving Options
I served our Black Bean Burgers with a side of plantain chips and fresh vegetables. The orange sauce you see on top of the burgers is a combination of mayonnaise and Sazón seasoning. This all vegetable inspired dish is perfect for families who celebrate Lent. This dish not only nourishes the heart, it nourishes the soul. Perfect for families who celebrate this special holiday. This recipe will bring together many of the flavors you love in a burger, with the addition of some new flavors to spice up the taste. The key to creating a tasty veggie burger is fresh ingredients combined with a few pantry staples.
