Since this party was for my husband, I made sure to talk with him about what he would most like to have at his party. My husband loves the outdoors and enjoys hunting. He also enjoys watching episodes of Duck Dynasty on Amazon Prime. I decided to go with hunting-themed colors like brown, green and orange for our birthday party decorations. And I added some fun Duck Dynasty quotes and signs for a little extra party fun. Hunting Themed Party Food
We selected some of my husband’s favorite foods: pulled-pork in a crock pot, baked beans, and chocolate cake to be our main dishes. We also served tortilla/ham/cream-cheese roll-ups, fresh veggies, chips-n-salsa, and corn bread as our sides.
The nice thing about serving from a crock pot is that the food is warm no matter when guests start to eat. It makes for easy prep too. I made a few fun signs to compliment the Duck Dynasty element to our hunting theme. You can find famous quotes by the Duck Dynasty crew related to hunting online. I just downloaded a few and enlarged them to create party decor.
Last Christmas my husband received the Duck Dynasty game “Redneck Wisdom” and we decided to use it to throw a few party games of our own.
We grouped our party guests into small teams. We read off ten trivia cards from “Redneck Wisdom” and teams had to write down the correct answer from the list of options provided on the cards via multiple choice. Everyone had a blast trying to guess which Duck Dynasty character said the quote that was read or how many doughnuts Uncle Si ate. The prizes included a Duck Dynasty cup, mini glow stick, two black dog tags, beef jerky, and Duck Dynasty stickers.
We also had a camoflage face painting contest. The man with the most camo on after 15 seconds won. Sorry I don’t have a photo, because that was really fun! Altogether we had four winners from the teams and face-painting contest. Their prize packs included a free Duck Dynasty themed beard. We photographed our winners and had the whole family represented: Willie, Uncle Si, Jase, and Phil.

Hunting Theme: Camouflage Chocolate Cake
I practiced with eight cakes over the course of a year to perfect the chocolate cake I baked for my husband’s 50th birthday. The recipe includes the right mix for “at sea level” baking as well as all the adjustments needed to bake at altitude.
The party balloons were so bright and colorful, even our breakfast area took on a brilliant appearance once decorated with our hunting theme party decor.
My husband was thrilled to spend time with some of our closest family and friends for his 50th birthday party. Here we are pictured with our parents in one big family squeeze. He was overwhelmed by the birthday well wishes and the fun we got to have with family and friends. He made sure to let me know that he’d felt very loved by all the time and attention put into his party. It made all the planning well worth it.
