Getting our house ready for the holidays is no easy task. With two boys under age 8, it’s hard to get all the toys and books put away, the house clean, and the decorations out of the garage to get our holiday decorations hung and put on display.
But I won’t let the challenges of keeping match-box cars and legos out from underfoot stand in the way of holiday traditions. When I’m juggling my crazy work-from-home schedule with the demands of running a household, I know there is always one thing I can lean on to help me keep everyone’s tummies happy and my family well fed, and that’s Michael Angelo’s family meals.
The quality of their dishes, like Michael Angelo’s Chicken Bruschetta Meal Starter, is so high, no one can tell that I bought the main course already made. My husband thought I’d slaved in the kitchen for a few hours when really all it took was a few minutes.
So here I’ll share a few tips for making the transformation complete. For going from an out-of-the box Michael Angelo’s Meal Starter solution to a looks-like-it’s-homemade dinner.
Ingredients for this Easy Chicken Bruschetta Recipe
For this easy to prepare and hearty family meal, I simply gathered these ingredients:
- Michael Angelo’s Chicken Bruschetta Meal Starter [you can pick these up at Walmart in the frozen food section.]
- Pre-cooked angel hair pasta from the fridge
- All the things from my Garlic Knots Recipe [see recipe below]
- Salad ingredients including mini cucumbers, romaine lettuce, and red grape tomatoes
Steps to Create a Home-Cooked Look to Your Ready Made Chicken Bruschetta Recipe
Step 1: Use fresh ingredients and ready-made to shortcut your prep time.
The beautiful thing about Michael Angelo’s meals is that they need nothing more than a bake in the oven to get them ready. Each entree is different, so be sure to carefully check the instructions on the box, but once the food has been heated, it’s in the perfect condition for serving.
Our family favorites include:

- Michael Angelo’s Family Size Baked Ziti with Meatballs
- Single Serve Michael Angelo’s Lasagna with Meat Sauce
- Michael Angelo’s Chicken Parmigiana
Step 2: Gather Ingredients and Preheat the Oven
For this family meal, I decided to pair our Michael Angelo’s Chicken Bruschetta Meal Starter with two homemade items, my Easy Garlic Knots Recipe, and homemade simple salad. So I gathered up the things I needed for the garlic knots and the salad and I turned the oven on to 400 degrees.
Step 3: Place the Michael Angelo’s Chicken Bruschetta Meal Starter into the oven.
Step 4: Prepare the garlic knots while the meal starter cooks. So I started with the garlic knots. I mixed and rolled out the dough, then tied the rolled dough into knots. Then I baked the garlic knots at the tail end of the cooking time for the Michael Angelo’s Chicken Bruschetta Meal Starter and I added butter and garlic salt onto the garlic knots right when they came out of the oven. You can see the full recipe for garlic knots here – including a video on how to tie garlic knots. [Full garlic knot recipe below.]
Step 5: Prepare the salad. I simply washed, cut and put together romaine lettuce, grape tomatoes, and sliced mini cucumbers for an easy salad packed with crunchy fresh veggies.
Step 6: Add a Side-Dish. Just before I pulled the Michael Angelo’s Chicken Bruschetta Meal Starter out of the oven, I took some already-made angel hair pasta out of the fridge and I heated it in the microwave for 2-3 minutes.
Step 7: Set the table and plate the food. When everything was finishing, I set the table. Then, I plated the food with a layer of angel hair pasta, a few chicken breast pieces with sauce form the Michael Angelo’s Chicken Bruschetta Meal Starter, a sprinkle of fresh parsley, a garlic knot and a bowl of fresh salad to complete the meal.
Ingredients for Homemade Garlic Knots
- 1 1/2 cups All-Purpose Flour (more for coating the countertop and your hands)
- 1 Tablespoon Baking Powder
- 1/2 Tablespoon Baking Soda
- 1/2 Teaspoon Salt
- 1 Cup Buttermilk (you could also use regular milk if no Buttermilk on hand)
- 2 Tablespoons Crisco (I used coconut oil)
- Butter or spray oil to grease cooking pan
Topping for Homemade Garlic Knots
- 1/2 Cup melted butter
- 1 Tablespoon Minced Garlic
- 1 Teaspoon Garlic Salt
- 1 Tablespoon dried Oregano
Directions for Homemade Garlic Knots
Step 1: Gather all ingredients and preheat the oven. I like to gather all my ingredients together before I start to make sure I have everything. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
Step 2: Mix the dry components. Add the baking powder, baking soda, and salt to the flour and mix to combine.
Step 3: Add the buttermilk to the dough. It’s best to add the buttermilk to the dough slowly. Gently mix it in to combine.
Step 4: Add the Crisco or Coconut Oil last. Do not melt the fats. You want the fats to be at room temperature when you add them in. Fold them in gently. It’s ok to have lumps as it adds flakiness to the dough.
Step 5: Form the dough into “ropes”. I find it easiest to roll out the dough and cut it into strips to create equal-sized dough pieces. Once you have the pieces “cut”, roll them into ropes about 10 inches long.
To create the “knot” with the dough, simply tie the dough into a knot and tuck in the ends.
An Easy Meal with Quality Ingredients
The boys and my husband loved this dish, and I love that is was so easy to make.
I am a work-from-home mom blogger. I travel to conferences and as much as I love to cook, I don’t always have time to make everything from scratch. But my family has a discerning taste. They want high-quality meals even when I don’t have the time or energy to make them. Some of the benefits I’ve found from serving meals by Michael Angelo’s include the fact that these are premium, slowly crafted authentic Italian meals, the list of ingredients includes things you can pronounce and that you can find in your kitchen, and that there are no artificial colors, flavors or sweeteners. Home-cooked taste with trustworthy ingredients. That’s the kind of meal I like to serve my husband and boys.
