Thank you to NESCAFÉ Clásico for sponsoring today’s post and inspiring me to make the moment happen and reconnect with my friends and family over a sobremesa! Do you have a sweet baked treat to pair with your favorite after supper drink? How about some Caramel Walnut Sweet Rolls from scratch? #MomentoNESCAFÉ
As a young child visiting my family in Miami, I can remember the adults gathering after a meal to sit together and drink coffee, divide a sweet treat, and share stories. NESCAFÉ was a popular drink for my latin american family and it’s still a family favorite today. I love how easy it is to mix NESCAFÉ in hot water to create a rich coffee drink. My parents are visiting soon and I can’t wait to share this Sweet Rolls recipe with them.
There is something about homemade sweet rolls with caramel sauce and glazed walnuts that welcomes friends and family to sit at the supper-table and spend time together. Pair these sweet rolls with NESCAFÉ Clásico for the perfect after-dinner sweet retreat.

Caramel Walnut Sweet Rolls: A Simple Sweet Treat
The dough is easy to make and you can choose to make these with your favorite type of nut – pecan, almond or glazed walnuts.
Ingredients for Caramel Walnut Sweet Rolls
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 Package Active Dry Yeast
- 1 Cup Milk
- 1/3 Cup Sugar
- 1/3 Cup Butter
- 1/2 Teaspoon Salt
- 2 Eggs
Filling and Topping (you’ll need two batches of the mix below)
- 2/3 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/4 cup butter
- 2 Tablespoons light corn syrup
- 1/2 Cup Glazed Walnuts (you can also use pecans or almonds)
It helps to have all your ingredients measured and ready to work with.
Directions for Caramel Walnut Sweet Rolls
Step 1: Combine 2 Dry Ingredients. Mix the yeast packet and flour together and set aside.
Step 2: Combine and melt other ingredients. Heat the milk, sugar, butter and salt in a small pot until the butter is almost melted.
Step 3: Add the melted mix to the flour mix. Combine the melted milk and butter mix and add the two eggs. Use a handheld mixer or stand mixer and mix for 30 seconds on low speed.
Step 4: Turn out the dough. Dump the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead in up to 1/3 cup of additional flour to strengthen the dough and help it form into a soft ball.
Step 5: Let the dough rise. Shape the turned out dough into a ball and place in a lightly greased bowl. Allow it to rise in a warm place until the dough has doubled in size (about an hour).
Step 6: Create the filling. Mix and heat the 2/3 cup packed brown sugar, 1/4 cup butter, and 2 Tablespoons light corn syrup. These ingredients will make the caramel sauce. If you’d like this caramel sauce both inside and on top of the sweet rolls, make sure to mix up two batches.
Step 7: Top the dough. Apply the caramel sauce on top of the dough and use a butter knife to spread the sauce. Once smothered in sauce, roll the dough up on the long side.
Step 8: Cut the dough. A piece of clean dental floss makes the perfect cut for individual sweet rolls from the dough.
Now you can see the sweet roll center. They seem small now, but not to worry, they expand when baked. Now is a good time to preheat the oven to 375 degrees.
Step 8: Prepare the baking pan. Once cooked, caramel sauce is very sticky. Take a piece of parchment paper and cut it to fit inside your baking dish. Grease the parchment paper and sides of the baking dish with butter. This will make it easier to dislodge the sweet rolls once baked.
Add the sweet rolls to the baking dish and try to space them evenly. If desired, sprinkle on your selected nuts and pour on the second batch of a caramel sauce.
Step 9: Bake at 375. Bake the sweet rolls at 375 degrees for 20 to 25 minutes. The rolls expand and the sauce may overflow the pan. Place a cookie sheet under the sweet roll pan to avoid a messy oven.
