Do you find it challenging to get your kids to eat veggies? Well, then you’ll love this post! Here I’m sharing my Easy Recipe: Kid Friendly Garlic Ranch Chicken Skewers.
One of the challenges I have as a mom with two young boys is getting them to eat more veggies. One of the easiest ways I’ve found to get them to even try veggies is to serve up foods that you eat with your hands. I know, it sounds messy, but if they eat veggies, that’s all I care about.
Easy Recipe: Kid Friendly Garlic Ranch Chicken Skewers
Well, I found a new seasoning at Walmart, called McCormick Garlic Ranch Seasoning. Our entire family enjoys garlic spices in our food and I loved the idea of combining Garlic Ranch with a whole host of veggies.
Well, the combo paid off. The kids ate the chicken and the veggies and so did my husband (by the way, he eats everything except eggplant, but the kids are a challenge). So here’s my super simple, easy recipe for Kid-Friendly Garlic Ranch Chicken Skewers. Thanks to McCormick, these seasonings are so versatile, I was able to whip up this dish with very little planning. It’s a perfect meal, especially on a weeknight.

- 1 Bag of carrot chips

* You can easily swap out the small pieces of chicken for cut up beef if you prefer
Directions for Friendly Garlic Ranch Chicken Skewers
Step 1: Rinse and cut the cucumber into chunks and set aside.
Step 2: Rinse and cut the chicken into bite-sized chunks.
Step 3: Sprinkle the McCormick Garlic Ranch Seasoning onto the chicken pieces.
Step 4: Thread one or two pieces of veggies onto the wooden skewer.
Step 5: Add a piece of chicken to the skewer and sprinkle on more McCormick Garlic Ranch Seasoning. New McCormick Garlic Seasoning Blends take the guesswork out of recipe-free cooking. These Garlic Blends can be used anywhere you use Garlic Powder – before, during or after cooking and add an extra boost of flavor.
Step 6: Repeat steps 4 and 5 until all 8 skewers are loaded with chicken and vegetables. I loaded three to four pieces of chicken per skewer.
Step 7: Turn on your stove top to medium-high heat. Add 2 pats of butter to your grill pan and add the skewers to the pan once the butter has melted. Cover with a lid to keep in the heat. Turn the skewer over every 3-4 minutes cooking for about 8 or 9 minutes. Be careful to keep an eye on this dish as cooking with a grill pan can easily burn food.
If you’re not 100% sure the chicken is ready, remove a piece and cut it open to make sure no pink flesh remains. Any extra sauce created by the cooked butter and spices I spread onto the skewers with a basting brush.
Use metal tongs to turn the skewers since tongs work better than a spatula.
You can serve this protein-packed and nutritious meal with a side of rice or mashed potatoes. I added green leaf lettuce and avocado for a little extra nutrition.
Where to find the Ingredients
I found all of the ingredients for these dishes at Walmart. You can find the McCormick Garlic Ranch Seasoning in the spices aisle.
