This week we’re settling back in after being away from home for eight weeks! Bear with me as I’m still trying to get my “sea legs” unpacking from our trip and from our evacuation due to forest fire in June.

1. Eric at Happy Birthday Author shared a fabulous craft – pillow cases to go with a wonderful book Steam Train Dream Train. What a wonderful way to encourage kids to read and get excited about bed time.

2. I love this idea for Sandy Plaster Hands by Life with Moore Babies – I only wished I’d known about it when we visited the beach this summer. 🙂 This would have made a wonderful keepsake from our trip.

3. Paula over at Beauty Through Imperfection shared 20 Things that Surprised Her About Motherhood. Paula – I’m right with you – motherhood was full of surprises for me too. And there is nothing as spectacular as being a mom!

4. Cheryl at Moms and Munchkins shared 5 Hoola Hoop Games for Kids – a fantastic way to have fun together – and burn off some energy – great ideas!

Food

No doubt about it – some bloggers can really create some fabulous things in the kitchen!

1. Mostly Homemade Mom shared these yummy Mushroom-Mozzarella Burgers. I love dressing up burgers and making them fancy!

2. And as if brownies weren’t already a delicious dessert, Lizbeth from Just Dip It In Chocolate came up with some Oreo and Cookie Dough Brownies. Seriously? I can just taste the yumminess through my computer screen!

3. Lizbeth does it again with these Alfredo and Pesto Chicken Brushetta on her blog Just Dip It In Chocolate. Lizbeth – Can I just come over to your house and eat? Yum!

4. Christine over at I Dig Pinterest posted an Alfredo Chicken Lasanga that is perfect for my family – we love casserole dishes around here. Thanks Christine!

Learning

I’m in the process of creating some materials and activities for my little guys to homeschool them in preschool this fall so I love reading all your great ideas for teaching little ones at home. Here are a few highlights from last week.

1. If you are thinking about homeschooling, Life With Moore Babies has taken the time to create a list of fabulous resources for homeschooling families with free printables, guides, schedules and more. Check out her post Homeschooling 101 for more info.

2. Kim at Natural Beach Living shared a great post on Teaching Children about Egypt. Complete with a book that has a pop-up-mummy! Great post Kim.

3. I am amazed at how comprehensive some materials are for teaching children – Bible Fun for Kids shared a lesson on Jacob’s Ladder. Great visuals and tutorial if you’d like to teach your little one this bible story.

4. And last but not least, Emily from Nap-Time Creations shared some wonderful fun ideas to teach kids about family fun with a Mini-Olympics. Great games for both fine and gross motor skills as well as problem solving and more. I can’t wait till my kids are old enough to do this!
