Learning
Trees, Leaves and Turkey’s… it’s fall around here and I’ve been so inspired by all the great fall crafts for learning and fun!
The following features are highlights selected by my co-host Chelsey Hall.
1. At Crafty Journal, they are getting into the Thanksgiving spirit with Paper Plate Pop Up Turkey that even young toddlers can help make. A great tool for teaching colors and even counting while adding the feathers!
2. These Season Tree Sun Catchers are way too cute and look like so much fun to make. Jill, from Enchanted Homeschool Mom, gives great step by step instructions using oil pastels and a lamenating machine for a fun fall craft.
3. I am always on the lookout for crafts to do using paper bags. Kathy, from Life on Lakeshore Drive has a super cute idea for a Paper Bag Turkey. These would make a great centerpiece for your table on Thanksgiving Day!
4. I love using tactile hands-on learning for the children. One Mommy shares Leaf Activities for Preschoolers that brings the outdoors in, to help the kiddos learn texture, color and sorting. There are so many different learning concepts you can gain just from a few leaves!
5. I’m not sure what it is, but felt boards have always made me a little giddy. I think it is the “teacher” side of me! Lisette from Where Imagination Grows shares the cutest felt board characters and how she uses them for Thanksgiving Felt Board Play. She said, “the whole set took me about an hour to make but it was a favorite activity last year and got a lot of use.” I love the idea she mentions for printing out clip art, laminating and then cluing to the felt. Easy Peasy and a great way to teach the history of Thanksgiving!
6. With Thanksgiving just around the corner, Sarah from Thank You Honey has a Best of Thanksgiving Crafts Roundup, of Turkey crafts she has done with her kids over the years. My favorite… the thanksgiving cards. These are on my list to do this year!
