FREE Community Helpers Printables and Thanks to Those who Give Extra
This Christmas we decided to thank our local firefighters with a tray of 60 Christmas Cookies and Extra Gum. We are so thankful for the firefighters in our area. Our community experienced devastating losses when a forest fire destroyed over 500 homes a little over a year ago. This Christmas, I wanted to give our firefighters something a little “extra”special. The boys and I visited our local fire station for a station tour and to deliver our special Christmas gift. This post includes free firefighter printables for kids and gift ideas for community helpers like firefighters. #ExtraGumMoments #CollectiveBias
As a parent I want to teach my boys how important it is to give thanks to those who serve. I baked three batches of Christmas cookies and packaged them with some Extra Gum to create a fun and easy-to-deliver Christmas gift. If you could use an easy sugar cookie cut-out recipe, you can find my recipe here: Christmas cookies.
Our Local Firefighters
I thought we would just drop off the gift bundle at the fire station, but the firefighters insisted we stay and enjoy a station tour. The boys loved touring the station. Our guide, George, took his time showing the boys all the hoses, gear, ladders, and trucks in the station. It was loads of fun and I got to take some really cute photographs of my two boys.

Fire Station Tour
My two year-old loved all the gears and controls on the side of the fire truck. I was amazed by all the things you have to know to get everything to work properly.
George even helped the boys up into the fire station’s ambulance. I was reminded how crucial firefighters are to saving lives.
Firefighters keep their gear in a cool locker room at the station. I felt like I was peeking in on an NFL locker room. The boys loved to see all the reflective gear.
A special thanks to Extra Gum for inspiring this post with their #ExtraGumMoments campaign. Visiting our local fire station made a great field trip for my kids. We learned so much about the gear, training, equipment, and volunteers in our area. To all the men and women who serve to protect and help families in our communities – Thank you!
