One of the fun things about being a stay-at-home mom is I get to watch some fun kid’s programming with my boys. Many of these shows didn’t exist when I was a kid and it’s exciting to see all the ways some of these newer shows incorporate math and science into all sorts of imaginary adventures.
We have a few favorite Nickelodeon / Nick Jr. cartoons that we enjoying watching together as a family. One of the cartoon shows that we love is called “Bubble Guppies.” The “Bubble Guppies” are a group of fish-tailed friends attending preschool in an underwater classroom. Children learn about topics such as science, math and literacy through music and rhyme. I’ll be sharing some fun party tips featuring Bubble Guppies in this post.
If your family enjoys Nickelodeon shows like Bubble Guppies, then you’ll be excited to know that Nickelodeon is hosting the Kids’ Choice Awards on Saturday, March 28th. Capri Sun Roarin’ Waters is the official drink sponsor of the Kids’ Choice Awards.
As the “official” drink, I decided to make Capri Sun Roarin’ Waters my #1 ingredient in my Bubble Guppies Jello Recipe.
There are no artificial colors or flavors in Capri Sun Roarin’ Waters and they offer a convenient way to keep my boys drinking more fluids throughout the day.
Bubble Guppies on Nick Jr.
Our friends from Bubble Guppies include (from top to bottom left- to top to bottom right) – Goby, Oona, Deema, Mr. Grouper., Bubble Puppy, Gil, Nonny, and Molly. Each of these characters has their own distinct personalities and it’s fun to watch these preschooler friends interact and help each other as they explore their underwater world.
Capri Sun Roarin’ Waters Bubble Guppies Jello Recipe
To celebrate the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards on Saturday, March 28th our family will be digging into these super cute Bubble Guppies Jello cups.
In case you’re wondering how I suspended our fish shaped candies in the fish bowls, here I’ll share the method I followed to create the candy-suspended-in-jello effect.
Ingredients for Capri Sun Roarin’ Waters Bubble Guppies Jello Recipe
This recipe is very easy to make and leads to lots of smiles!
- 6 – 6 oz. pouches of Capri Sun Roarin’ Waters
- 1 oz or 4 packets of gelatine
- 1 tsp. blue gel food coloring
- 1 cup gummy fish candies
- 8 – 6 oz glasses or clear cups to create fish bowls
- 8 – blue and white stripped paper straws
- 8 – Bubble Guppies straw flag printables (more on printables below)
To create 6 to 8 glasses of Bubble Guppies fish bowls you’ll need to double the recipe above. As listed above, the recipe will create about 4 fish bowl glasses.
Directions to Create Capri Sun Roarin’ Waters Bubble Guppies Jello Recipe
Step 1 – Empty 5 to 6 pouches of Capri Sun Roarin’ Waters into a measuring cup. You’ll need 4 cups of fluid for this recipe. You will have a partial pouch remaining after emptying enough juice to gather 4 cups.
Step 2 – Add three of the four cups of Capri Sun Roarin’ Waters to a pot and boil. Set aside 1 cup of the fluid for step 3. Add 1 teaspoon of blue food coloring gel to the juice and mix until you get a light blue color. Capri Sun Roarin’ Waters is actually a clear fluid, if you would like a light blue colored jello, you’ll need to add some food coloring.
Step 3 – Add all four packets of gelatin (or 1 oz of gelatin powder) to the 1 cup of room temperature Capri Sun Roarin’ Waters and stir. You’ll notice the gelatin start to gel the juice almost immediately.
Step 4 – Make sure your gelatin-infused juice is in a container large enough to accommodate all four cups of fluid. Then add the hot 3 cups of Capri Sun Roarin’ Waters to the partially jelled 1 cup of juice and mix until the gelatin dissolves completely with the hot mix.
Step 5 – Pour some of the hot mix into your 6 oz glasses. You want to fill them only slightly over half-way. Place the glasses in the freezer for 1/2 an hour to 45 minutes to chill.
Step 6 – In the meantime, while the juice chills inside the glasses, leave the remaining juice on the counter to cool to room temperature. If you leave it out too long it will gel. If that happens you can reheat it in the pot or microwave to bring it back to a liquid state.
Step 7 – Once the jello in the freezer has chilled to a solid state, remove it from the freezer and place on the kitchen counter. Add one gummy fish candy to the top of the jello.
Step 8 – Pour some of the room temperature Capri Sun Roarin’ Waters liquid mix on top of the gummy-topped jello. I placed the cooking pot in my sink with the jello cup inside. This helped cut down on messes caused by spills. Return the cups to the freezer for another 1/2 hour to cool.
Step 9 – Print and cut out the Bubble Guppies straw flags and hole punch. Thread the blue and white straws through the paper flags to create decorative straws for the Bubble Guppies Jello Cups.
Voila’ – you now have candy fish suspended in Capri Sun Roarin’ Waters Jello! It looks like a mini fish bowl and is the perfect treat for the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards!
I added fish bowls partly filled with sand and some blue starfish to complete our underwater scene. The remaining gummy fish added a nice punch of color to our Bubble Guppies table scape.
Where to find the Ingredients
