G is for Giggle
The updated post for this Preschool Alphabet Game is at: HappyandBlessedHome.com
We are on the letter “G” and just thought I’d share a fun video from a birthday party we went to this weekend. We had the two boys on the couch and they were having fun giggling. The woman in pink is their grandmother. We call her “Nana.”
For the letter “G” the magnet board contained flashcards of a goose, grapes, a girl, a grasshopper, and the words “gift”, “God”, “grace” and “gorilla”. Goose, gift and grace are new words for Peanut. On the table were books like “Goodnight Gorilla”, “God Gave Us You”, as well as a book about zoo animals and a story about a giraffe.
I did not fill a sensory basket, instead I placed some giraffes and what I thought was a gorilla on the table (I think Peanut is right – it is actually a monkey.) The free printables are from 1plus1plus1equals1 and include several versions of artwork with the letter “G”.
I also placed a small wooden box on the table with a nativity wrapped in tissue paper inside. When our little man opened the box he immediately recognized it as Jesus. Then I explained to him that Jesus is God’s gift to us, a “present”. I’m trying to incorporate bible stories and other activities to help emphasize not only the letter but also some important biblical concepts at the same time.
The box with baby Jesus inside was fascinating for our little guy. He also enjoyed playing with his phonics sound maker and coloring.
In the video below our two-year old correctly identifies the zoo animals. Mommy and Daddy will have to place the stuffed monkey in the “M” sensory bin (*wink).

In this video Peanut emplanes how Jesus was “born of me.” I think what he means is that he knows baby Jesus was born for him. He was born for all of us.
The scripture that speaks to me with these lessons is:
