This post includes a tutorial on our preschool alphabet games – “Go Fish” game. We tell the boys all the time “That’s your little brother (or big brother) and he is going to be your best friend.” And since we are on the Letter “F” in our alphabet series, I thought I’d share with you one way that we try to incorporate biblical concepts that coordinate with our letter theme.
One of our favorite bibles for toddlers is “The Children’s Discovery Bible” published by Cook Communications. The boys are not included in the video below, what I’ve done here is provide an example of one of the stories about friendship that is great for teaching this character trait and that coincides with our work on the letter “F”.

This is a great story to encourage little ones to want to know Jesus, He says, “Let the little children come to me.”
In addition, I’ve included a short tutorial on how to create the “Go Fish Game.” There are tons of variations you could orchestrate using this same idea – you could fish for numbers on the fish and then use them to create and solve math problems, you could use any number of cookie cutters or templates to cut other animals. You could fish for many different kinds of animals and ask your son/daughter to find the animal that starts with the letter “B”, and have a cut-out of a bear. The possibilities are endless. Be creative and have fun!

I just felt that I needed to include these tips to wrap up the letter “F” lesson. I hope these ideas inspire you with your little one(s).
