This week at Family Fun Friday we are taking some time to enjoy the season with hands on Fall activities. This time of year offers so many opportunities to take advantage of all that nature has to provide. A trip to the local pumpkin patch or even the grocery store will supply you with all you need for a pumpkin washing sensory bin. Spruce up your Autumn decor with homemade leaf garland and reconnect with the outdoors with a nature hike.
Our moms are sharing their favorite fun finds this week. Thumbprint art and hammering nails in pumpkins are sure to bring some fun to your kids’ day. Don’t forget those big pile of leaves, have your kids grab a few handfuls and get busy with leaf collages. Spend your weekend having fun with these hands on Fall activities.

Explore the outdoors with fun hands on Fall activities.
Crunching leaves, giant pumpkins, plentiful harvests. This time of year gifts us with so many opportunities to learn from and enjoy all that nature has to offer. The changing season is the perfect time to get outdoors and collect some of the Fall treasures and encourage your kids (and yourself) to get your hands on Fall. This week the nature inspired activities and crafts we are sharing will bring the outdoors in, keeping the sights and sounds of Autumn all around you.
- Hammering nails into a pumpkin, what kid wouldn’t love that? There’s Just One Mommy shows us how a wood mallet, a handful of nails and bright orange squash will keep your kids busy while adding a unique decorative look to your porch pumpkins.
- Now that the pumpkins are carved, what are you going to do with all those seeds? Mini Monets and Mommies shows us how to turn those dried seeds into a fun rainbow pumpkin seed mosaic craft.
- Let the colors of fall dance in your windows with this simple leaf garland from Hands On As We grow. A hands on activity so easy a toddler can help you create this colorful decoration for your home.
- Something 2 Offer inspires us to really get moving and explore the great outdoors with an impromptu fall nature hike. Leaves underfoot, colorful trees and cooler weather combine perfectly for a lovely Fall experience with the family.
- Because leaves are everywhere and we need creative ways to have fun with them. Leaf collages from Serenity You is another simple, hands on way to get your kids actively participating in the Fall season.
- This time of year is a goldmine of new smells, sights and textures for your little one. The pumpkin washing sensory bin from Where Imagination Grows combines different shaped and sized pumpkins, some water, soap and sponges into an activity that will excite your child and keep their senses stimulated.
Halloween Crafts Galore!
