I awoke to the smell of maple-cured bacon, my wonderful husband made me breakfast on Mother’s Day. It included bacon, eggs with ham and spinach, and pancakes, two bouquets of flowers and a lovely kiss. We woke the boys and ate breakfast in our beautiful sun-filled breakfast area amidst the pine trees.

We later met my mother and sister-in-law, Vada, at the Olive Garden. I enjoyed their mixed grilled chicken and steak kabobs. Then over to my sister Vada’s house for some loving family time. It’s been a fun filled weekend. Yesterday we went to a friend’s son’s one year old birthday party. And for the first time ever, my eldest actually felt comfortable enough to wander around at the party playing outside of visual contact. In addition, he managed to get through child care at church without a melt-down. So, mommy was able to enjoy some of the service while nursing our baby. It’s exciting to watch him grown and learn some independence.

Every day I am reminded of how important quality time is to me. Time with family, time with friends… This week one of my very good friends spent two hours with us before her departure to Canada. She’s been like a sister to me since my move here and I’m going to miss her very much. Making friends takes time and work and it’s always so tough when one leaves. I know we’ll stay in touch, but it’s never the same when there are so many miles between friends.
Here’s to good friends and family and a very Happy Mother’s Day!
