It has a touch of Don Victor® hot sauce which adds just the right touch of heat. Try it with tortilla chips at your next Mexican-inspired meal.
Do you know what tastes really good on a chilly day in November? Mexican food. Know what’s even better? Mexican food with family! With a mom from Puerto Rico, a dad from Cuba, and a husband from Texas, you’d better believe enjoying Mexican food together with family is a common occurrence in our home.
My step-mother from Guatemala makes the best Traditional Mexican Guacamole. This recipe satisfies the need for a bit of heat with the Guac. Perfect with tacos, tortillas, burritos, and everything Mexican, Spicy Piquin Guacamole is a must have for any family gathering featuring Mexican food.
Now, I’m not just sharing our guacamole recipe in this article, if you scroll down, I’ve got a whole host of yummy recipes I’ve created around a Mexican themed meal. This Guacamole would go perfectly with any of them, my two personal favorites though are the Mexican Fajitas and and the Shredded Chicken Epanadas – YUM!
Ingredients for this Traditional Mexican Guacamole
- 1 – 2 Tablespoons of Don Victor® Green Piquin Hot Sauce
- 4 – 6 Ripe Avocados (soft to the touch)
- 1/4 of a Large White Onion (chopped)
- 1 Tablespoon snipped cilantro
- 1 Tablespoon Lime Juice
- 1 Tablespoon Lemon Juice
- 2 Garlic cloves, minced
- 1/4 Teaspoon Salt
- 2-3 Roma tomatoes (chopped)
- Tortilla Chips
- Special Tool: To make this recipe super quick, I used a Cuisinart Food Processor – 7 Cup
Directions to Create this Traditional Mexican Guacamole
Step 1: Wash tomatoes, lemons, and limes, pat dry.
Step 2: Gather everything together over a large cutting board. If you have one, a food processor can be a very handy tool for making quick work of guacamole.
Step 3: Take a large white onion and chop off the ends. Quarter one half of the onion and use the food processor to chop onion into a rough cut. Once chopped, set aside.
Step 4: Cut and quarter the avocados. Remove the skin and the seed. Add the avocados to the food processor and chop until soft.
Step 5: Quarter a lime and a lemon and squeeze the juice into the food processor. You can also add the garlic, salt, and the Don Victor® Green Piquin Hot Sauce. The piquin pepper is a very small pepper from northern Mexico. Don Victor®’s sauces are the only ones you will find on the market that are made entirely from this tasty pepper. Pulse the food processor to mix all the ingredients together.
Step 6: Take fresh Roma tomatoes and chop them into small chunks for your guacamole. You could use a food processor, but I prefer hand chopped tomatoes. Set aside.
Step 7: Spoon out the mashed guacamole into a large mixing bowl. Using a soft spatula, gently fold in the chopped tomatoes and chopped onion.
Try to mix and not mash the coarse cut veggies into the guacamole.
Step 8: Sprinkle chopped cilantro on top and feel free to add a few more pieces of diced tomato on top for extra color. Serve with Tortilla Chips.
