We are on the letter “I” and my little man loves to play with letters.
For this letter I did not have much in the way of sensory items so I used the flashcards and printables from 1plus1plus1equals1.com for our lesson on the letter “I”. Peanut knew “ice cream” since Blue Bell Ice Cream is a family favorite, but the other words were new to him. I have a special craft project for the word “igloo,” but more on that in an upcoming post. I also drew an Iguana for this lesson and you can download it here: I is for Iguana. I’ve added this to the list of free printables under “free stuff” as well. To watch this video in a reader please click here: I is for Iguana.
The setup included flashcards of the words ink, igloo, and ice cream. I added the biblical names Isaac and Isaiah to coincide with bible stories we read on this study of the letter “I”, and I drew an Iguana on the board as an illustration.
The story of Isaiah is from “The children’s Discovery Bible” published by Cook Communications and is based on Isaiah 7:14 and 9:1-7. The memory verse from this story is “For to us a child is born, to us a son is given” Isaiah 9:6.
The story of Isaac is also from “The children’s Discovery Bible” and is based on Genesis 24. The memory verse from this story is “Praise the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His Benefits” Psalm 103:2.
For me, the letter “I” brings to mind “inspiration”. What inspires you? The scriptures are God’s love letter to us and are directly inspired (God-breathed) by God himself. I pray His words will be an inspiration for you today.
2 Timothy 3:16, New International Version (NIV)
16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness
Good words to keep in mind as I train up these little ones. What scripture inspires you with your little ones. I’d love to hear from you – please leave a comment below.
In His Grip,
