Today I was reminded of how I am reliving some things with our new little one. He likes to grunt at night and he makes a funny sound when he yawns and coughs at the same time. I have to remember to burp him and I think he eats more than he can stomach at times. It’s really such a blessing and a privilege. He stays alert for longer periods of time now and he likes to look around. I know he sees me and he responds to my voice. I am humbled by this little being.
Psalm 139:13-14, New International Version (NIV)
13 For you created my inmost being;
you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful,
I know that full well.
Today my mom was holding him and Peanut, our eldest, looked at her and said “baby down” – because he wanted her full attention. It’s as if he knows she’s here to help me with our oldest mostly and he wanted to make sure he had her to himself. But in general he likes his baby brother. He puts “lovies” on him by leaning his head against his feet or kissing his toes. What an amazing sight.
We also made a trip to the local park today to meet daddy for lunch. Our eldest had a blast sliding down the slide and running through the open field with Daddy. Two other young boys showed up with balls to kick and my son went right after them. Fortunately they all shared and my “big boy” had a great time. I made a mental snapshot of the glee on my big boy’s face as I pushed him in the swing. It was that open air smile with a slight squint in his eyes and apple cheeks that did me in. I could’ve just covered him in kisses. Our little one slept the whole time so I was able to relax and have fun. Sigh – I am so blessed!
In His Grip,
Monica
