It’s been a busy month. After much prayer and consideration, my husband and I decided to move forward with plans to update our master bathroom. The update has taken a tremendous amount of planning on my part and since every spare moment has been spent sourcing the materials for the remodel including many trips to Home Depot, Lowe’s, our cabinet, tile, and countertop suppliers it’s been an action packed month. My advice to anyone planning a remodel that includes taking everything down to the drywall – plan, plan, and plan some more and coordinate with your contractor. The smallest change can mean rerouting plumbing or electrical so be sure to communicate constantly. I provided my contractor with a wish list, diagrams and lists of the materials I planned to purchase as well as a coordinated list for the “behind the scenes” materials. We changed the entire footprint of the bathroom – meaning we moved the toilet, sinks and tub as well as knocked down the closet to expand the space. We also added two new closets to the master to make up for the old “lost” closet. Also, whatever budget you put together, allocate another 10% to 20% for the things you just didn’t plan for. Fortunately for me, the remodel has coincided with a visit from my mom – she helps with my two-year- old while I’ve been making trips to the hardware stores. Here are a few pictures and I’ll be sure to send an update when it’s finished. Hopefully, now that the big push to get materials is completed I’ll have a bit more spare time to blog every now and then. Thanks for joining me on my remodeling journey.
