We’re enjoying our preschool alphabet games and this week we are studying the letter “Q”. Peanut is 34 months old. “Q” is a challenging letter in some ways because there aren’t as many words that start with the letter “Q”. For a sensory item I used a Quesadilla. Peanut enjoyed the melted cheese and soft texture of the flour tortilla. Other items on his magnet board included flashcards of a queen, quilt, and quail. I also drew some coloring sheets that included pictures of a queen, quarter, quail and quince (a fruit that looks a bit like a pear). You can download these free printables for Letter Q.
Peanut dove right in to vocabulary review today, you can watch the video here: Letter Q Vocabulary
He also loved coloring with the crayons. He colored the quince pink, green and purple and I explained to him that it’s actually a yellow fruit. He was so proud of his artwork he promptly took it to his stuffed animal friend Donald Duck to show off his masterpiece.
Nugget also enjoyed “coloring“ with the crayons, I just have to keep a close watch to ensure he doesn’t try to eat them.
We also found an informative video about quails on YouTube. The beginning is very good, the second half is about hunting quail (you may want to watch this ahead of time before sharing with your preschooler.)
For me “Q” stands for quiet time. It’s been a beautiful, peaceful day and I love to sit in the path of the warm sunshine beaming in through the window, take a deep breath, and enjoy a few quiet moments with the Lord. I pray you are getting some quiet time with Him this week.
Thank you for joining us on our journey through the alphabet.
