Looking for easy recipe ideas for your next social gathering or party? Are you a school teacher or parent with kids who enjoy basketball?
If you enjoy entertaining, you will love this post. Here I’ll share my Seven Layer Dip Recipe and a few simple basketball party ideas. This 7 Layer Dip Recipe is easy to make and absolutely delicious with Delimex Taquitos and Tamales. I’ve also included free downloadable basketball printables in this post – scroll down for more.
You can serve this Seven Layer Dip with a vast array of chips, tacos, veggies, beans, and tortilla dishes. This dip is a real crowd pleaser and helps add a little spice and flavor to almost any dish.
I paired my Seven Layer Dip with Delimex White Meat Chicken Taquitos and Delimex Beef Tamales. The taquitos have a nice flavor and crispy crunch. The beef tamales are filled with a savory meat center that has just a touch of spiciness. These flavors play well with the sweetness of the sour cream and the smooth taste of the guacamole in my seven layer dip.

7 Layer Dip with Mexican-inspired Flavor
Ingredients for my Seven Layer Dip Recipe
- 1 Flour Tortilla
- 1 Can Refried Beans
- 2 Cups shredded cheese – divided into two 1 cup portions
- 1 Cup green Enchilada Sauce
- 1 Cup Sour Cream
- 3 Ripe red Roma Tomatoes
- 1/2 Cup Guacamole
Directions for Seven Layer Dip Recipe
Before you begin, setup your ingredients and measure each one. Dice your Roma Tomatoes ahead of time into 1/2 – 1 inch chunks. Then preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Place the flour tortilla on the bottom of your serving dish.
- Layer on the refried beans and spread the refried beans into an even layer in the dish.
- Sprinkle on one cup of the cheese into a single layer over the refried beans.
- Pour on the green enchilada sauce.
- Bake at 350 degrees for 1/2 an hour – if you prefer the entire dip at a warm temperature, wait to do this step until you’ve added all the ingredients. I like a mix of hot and cold so I bake mine mid-way through assembly.
- Add your sour cream and spread it out evenly.
- Add the guacamole and spread it out evenly.
- Sprinkle on the diced tomatoes.
- Sprinkle on the final cup of shredded cheese.
Your can easily dress up your Mexican style Fiesta with food. I found some beautiful sweet peppers in bright colors and paired them with my husband’s favorite – green jalapeño peppers – to create a floral style display. Not only is this plate of peppers beautiful, it’s edible. It makes for a colorful addition to your Mexican Fiesta or Basketball Party, and it creates another party tray appetizer.
To make it easy to recreate this Mexican Fiesta style Basketball-themed party at home, this post includes free printable basketball players you can use to decorate your party table. In addition, I found toy basketball baskets and basketballs at a local craft store and I added them to our table scape to add dimension and a fun-loving twist to this fiesta party display.
I hope these simple basketball party ideas provide a little inspiration for your next social gathering or party!
