Time flies when you have little ones. Our six month old can’t crawl yet, but he can roll from his tummy to his back and then his back to his tummy in your direction until he reaches you. And our two-year-old is now successfully potty-trained to use his miniature toilet when he is awake. This development is in part due to my mom’s help this month. Our family is so blessed to have “Nannie” here visiting. She’s been a tremendous blessing as Jimmy has had to be out of town visiting his dad and making a trip to the mountains.

The boys have started to interact more regularly, including our baby being in the “Baby Einstein” contraption which allows him to sit upright and get a better view of the world around him. He talks up a storm – especially around 6:30 AM and at various other times during the day. He loves to cuddle and only complains when he can’t see what is going on or isn’t included. At our last visit to the pediatrician he scored the highest in the area of communication. Our entire family loves to interact and “talk” with him. He even likes to sit in mommy’s lap while she checks e-mail or blogs – as long as he is a part of the action he is happy. He enjoys rice cereal, oatmeal, sweet potatoes, and bananas. He has tried green beans but doesn’t appear to be thrilled about them. He still will not take a bottle or pacifier – he likes to suck his thumb. We absolutely adore our newest little family addition.

Our big boy puts sentences together, he recently told daddy on a walk in the backyard, “I don’t see any deer out here right now.” – Wow – yeah, I know (mommy is at a loss for words). He likes to rock his baby brother in the rock-and-play and loves to sit on mommy, nannie, or daddy’s laps. His eating has improved as we’ve cut him back to two milk servings a day. His latest haircut was orchestrated by yours truly. Daddy really likes the “big boy” hair cut. Nannie recently gave him a bubble machine and it is now one of his favorite things to do. Last night mommy and daddy managed to make it to Carraba’s for a much-needed and long-awaited date night and our eldest didn’t cry when we left because he was going outside with Nannie to play bubbles. He only said, “See you real soon” when we left. It was still hard to leave him because he is so cute – but we know he had fun with Nannie.
