The last several weeks have been very trying on my motherly nerves. My oldest child–who has some learning differences, has decided to act out, rather than his normal temperament of being kind and obedient. Needless to say, I have been scouring the world of Pinterest, and Amazon, looking for that book, or that pearl of wisdom that just might give me that bit of advice that I need. This week our featured bloggers are some of The Best Blogs for Teaching Children. I know, there are many wonderful bloggers, but I am over-the-moon with the content from these bloggers.
Really, that is the beauty of this link-up party. The wonderful insight, and creativity shared here each week offers so much more than just another tasty recipe, but also inspires creativity, and encouragement.
This week the focus is on children, and how to inspire them to learn through various books, projects and blog posts. I made an effort to include wisdom for different ages (not just the littles). First, we begin with 10 Ways to Make Learning Nursery Rhymes More Fun. I love this, it really is important to read nursery rhymes to children. The inability to rhyme or hear the rhyme can be an early indication of a learning difference, and Lisa shows how to make this important educational piece more enjoyable.
Next, be inspired to head outdoors and explore nature with your children, Explore Nature for Earth Day, is a list of books to help you do just that, and my interest is piqued with regard to learning more about turtles. Additionally, teach (and learn) the phases of the moon with this cool (and relatively easy) Moon Phases Science Experiment. My boys would love this experiment!
Also, be sure to check out this blog: How do Dinosaurs…Social Skills Game. This post uses the story books of the How Do Dinosaurs series and adds an additional printable to teach different skills. Honestly, we own several of these books and I’ve never thought to make this more than just a story, but an actual lesson–what a creative thought! Additionally, Toddler Spring Activities is so full of color and fun for the littles–I adore the sweet activities, and my older kids can participate too.
Finally, this blogger takes the prize this week with How to Write an Essay. Not only does she name the different types of essays, but she also has the links for APA, MLA, and Chicago style citation formats. I encourage you to save this, if your children are young, trust me, you WILL NEED this someday!
Have a fantastic week and enjoy this week’s featured blogs.
