We’ve are launching into the letter “V” this week in our preschool alphabet study. The word that I find inspiring this week is “VISION”. These one word a week devotionals are meant as encouraging posts for moms. I hope that the word: “Vision” is an encouragement to you this week.
According to the free online dictionary, vision is:
vi·sion
vi·sion, noun
1. the act or power of sensing with the eyes; sight.
2. the act or power of anticipating that which will or may come to be: prophetic vision; the vision of an entrepreneur.
3. an experience in which a personage, thing, or event appears vividly or credibly to the mind, although not actually present, often under the influence of a divine or other agency: a heavenly messenger appearing in a vision. Compare hallucination ( def 1 ) .
4. something seen or otherwise perceived during such an experience: The vision revealed its message.
5. a vivid, imaginative conception or anticipation: visions of wealth and glory.
Jeremiah 29:11, New International Version (NIV)
11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
It’s a vivid anticipation of our future. I know that I feel more confident as a mom knowing that God has a plan for me and for my little ones.
I think it’s also healthy for us as moms to have goals for our little ones and conceive a “vision” for them. I think it’s good to have both short term and long tern visions for them.
Since my boys are so young, I envision them learning how to share and have manners. In the long term I dream of them graduating college, pursuing careers and hopefully forming a family of their own.
A short video clip to encourage you: Vision
This week I encourage you with the thought that God has a vision for you and your children. He has a vision for all your relationships – as a wife, daughter, sister, mother, and friend.
Take courage in the plans He has for you. And take delight in creating an environment for your little ones that supports the vision you have for them.
Praying you have newfound hope in your vision and that you delight in the dreams and plans He has for you.
In His Grip,
