Some journals and my favorite window seat. |
I’ve been keeping a diary for many years. In fact, if you came to my house I could show you stacks of journals with stories and prayers from over the past ten years. I even have a journal from junior high school. I adore the page where I write about a boy, who I had a crush on, that loaned me his pencil. Kinda silly now that I look back but that was the heart of a girl in junior high. I blog because I write already. The major benefit now is that anyone can read my “handwriting” on this blog. And I can share pictures and keep up with friends and family. Plus I have so many rich and wonderful things going on in my life and I just feel like my cup is spilling over and I have to share. I must admit though that if you could read my journals from ten + years ago you would find some sad and dark stories, especially as God walked me though some pruning in my relationships and lifestyle. You see, I wasn’t always a Christian and I wasn’t always seeking His will for me. Trust me, His will is always better.
My love of the written word started when I was a little girl. My grandfather owned a bookstore and he would bring me books or I could get books when we went to visit him in Miami. I read almost all the Nancy Drew mysteries by the time I was ten, and I didn’t stop there. I loved the library and still do. In fact I have about a dozen children’s books checked out now to fuel the passion for books in my own children. I always wanted to write a book. In fact it’s only now that I’m able to seriously consider it (I actually feel mature enough to write something worthwhile). If I do write a book I’ll be sure to let you know.
I pray you pursue your passion and that God opens doors for you to enjoy it the way He has done for me. Let me know about your passions and I’ll be sure to pray for you.
In His Grip,
Monica
